Comprehensive CPTED Courses
Our university-level CPTED courses incorporate classroom learning, case studies, and fieldwork. Continuing Education Credits are available for members of the British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects (BCSLA) and the Planning Institute of British Columbia (PIBC). AIBC members can also self-report for learning unit consideration. ASIS members earn Professional Development Credits.
Level 1 Basic CPTED Course
This four-day program teaches foundational CPTED principles and strategies, including 1st and 2nd Generation CPTED and SafeGrowth® theory. It is a pre-requisite for Level 2.
Level 2 Advanced CPTED Course
This four-day course covers effective analysis, report writing, and specialized topics such as CPTED in parks, schools, social housing, street disorder and security systems. The course includes case studies and real world exercises. It is a pre-requisite for Level 3.
Level 3 CPTED Certificate Course
This is a two-day course focusing on specific applications, such as CPTED for Business Improvement and Retail, internal building design, subdivision guidelines, public washrooms, alleys and lanes, community safety and well- being. Candidates will participate in case studies and real world exercises. A Certified CPTED Practitioner Certificate will be issued after successful completion of all course levels as well as submitted site plan exercises and reports.
